We all read and hear a lot of eating healthy, exercising and maintaining a happy lifestyle but have you ever thought of your eyes? Have you ever thought if they are in a great shape or not? Well, if you are someone who wears contact lenses of glasses then you are already on autopilot but if you are someone who has the perfect eyesight then yes, you need to be worried about your eyes and fear the time when you will need some support of glasses or lenses to see things clearly.

You see the thing to be worried about is that right now the number of people with eyesight problems is increasing at a rapid pace and the need of the hour is to take measures and control this problem or else one day there won’t be a single person left with a perfect vision.

Technology has undoubtedly made our lives easier and there is now a permanent cure for those who have a weak eyesight and here by that cure we are referring to lasik aka laser surgery. This surgery is now pretty common especially in Singapore, you just have to type in the search engine, let’s say “top lasik surgery in Singapore” and you’ll see thousands of results pop up on your screen

Now, you do have an option to wear contact glasses or go for lasik surgery if you have a weak eyesight but then again, prevention is better than cure which is why today we are here  with a few habits that can help you keep your eyes healthy.

Here’s what you can do in order to keep your eyes healthy and your vision perfect:

Wear Sunglasses Outdoor

Believe it or not, the rays coming out of the Sun are good for our skin but not for your eyes so always wear sunglasses when you are outdoor and you know that you will have to make a lot of contact with the Sun. Just like your skin, your eyes can also get sunburned and trust me, this isn’t something you will like. Just as the UV light from the Sun damages the skin, it causes a lot of damage to your eyes too, the only difference is that you can see the damage on your skin in the form of sunburns but when it comes to your eyes, well, the sunlight is more of a slow poison to them.

Make an Eye Appointment

We all go for regular checkups to the doctor when we know we have a disease in our body but most of the people don’t even know the concept of getting an eye appointment. If you really need to keep your eyes healthy and strong then you need to get them checked every now and then especially if you are someone who is above 40 then yes, it is highly recommended for you to get your eyes checked because after a certain age your eyesight starts to get weak and the sooner you take measures to stop them from weakening, the better it will be.

Don’t Rub Your Eyes a Lot

There are a lot of people in the world who have a habit of rubbing their eyes vigorously, well, honestly this habit can cause a lot of damage to your eyes. We’ve all heard that eyes are most sensitive part of the body then obviously you need to be careful when it comes to handling them, rubbing your eyes too much can cause corneal abrasion and the eye pressure can actually cause visual distortion which is something no one would want.

Quit Smoking

Smoking can cause some serious eye damage especially to your optic nerves and it also cause macular degeneration so the sooner you quit this bad habit of yours the better it will be for your overall body and your eyes too. Every time you smoke a cigarette, know that you are just inhaling poison and that poison is slowly going to cost you your life.

Eat Healthy

Eating healthy and exercising regularly is not only important for your heart and other organs in fact it can help you maintain a good eye health too. Especially if you are someone who suffers through vision problems, most importantly, macular degeneration then nutrients like lutein, Vitamin C and E and omega 3 fatty acids are like a must for you. Eat as much green vegetables as you can and try to consume a good amount of protein every single day because both these things will actually help you a lot with your vision problems.

These are a few major things that you need to consider if you want to keep your eyes healthy forever. So, follow the above mentioned tips and most importantly adopt a healthy lifestyle if you want to live a long life.
